« on: October 07, 2012, 10:40:49 AM »
Theme: Misspelled first words of location phrases yielding different meanings

Good Ones:
African antelope’s haven?   GNUREPUBLIC [magazine name]
Roomer’s mecca?   BOARDERSTATE
Bellyacher’s bailiwick?   WHINEREGION
Jurist’s paradise?   SUENATION [Sioux]
Like some cats   HEP [well, they used to be]
Queen’s subjects   ANTS  [had the TS so I thought METS]
Birthday work for Mom   LABOR
Bussing needs   LIPS [but you have to know bussing = kissing]
... and good clues throughout.

By the Way:
Interesting that both New World pyramid builders appear in the same puzzle.

Some Nits to Pick:
It: It.   ESSA [despite the clever clue ESSA is just not used in English]

RATING:   ;D ;D ;D Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
