Valid entry?
« on: January 05, 2021, 07:28:39 PM »
Do you all think OFANERA is a legit entry? It's in my database as having been used somewhere, clued as {Tied to a particular time}. Part of me thinks I've heard this used as a standalone phrase, the other part isn't so sure.

It's definitely not a standalone phrase. Just one of those things that snuck in to make a grid work. Used once in NYT. I'd rate it risky, to be avoided if possible.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have the date of the NYT usage?

Thanks. Very helpful. And shows that I should probably pony up for xword info finder access. You're right, the entry is risky, I'll see if I can find something else. But the fact that Shortz allowed it (fairly recently at that) tells me I can keep it in my pocket to use if all else fails.
