How long does it take to hear back from NYT?

I submitted a puzzle to the New York Times about a month ago. How long should I expect to wait to learn if it's accepted or rejected? I assume that if they reject it they'll send a formal rejection letter so I can send it somewhere else, is that right?

I'm waiting on one submitted Jan 22. Specs say up to 4 months, I believe.
