About Today's Puzzles

1) With the exception of the LA Times puzzle, the lnks in the "Today's Puzzles" block point to puzzle files or web pages that exist on other servers and web sites. For example, when you click on "New York Times" you are trying to retrieve a puzzle from the New York Times web site, not the CRUCIVERB.COM site. If you get an error message when trying to access these puzzles there is nothing CRUCIVERB.COM can do about it. Therefore, please direct your questions to a technical contact of the publisher in question.

2) Many of the puzzle links point to Across Lite puzzles. They have a file extension of .PUZ If you are trying to pick up a .PUZ file with your browser you will need the Across Lite puzzle player. It is available at: http://www.litsoft.com This is very good software (and free!), so it is well worth it to get it and install it.

3) Puzzles such as the New York Times are available every day, including holidays, and are current. However, some publishers do not make puzzles available on holidays, so a link may not work on a holiday. Some puzzles are delayed, appearing onlne by a certain number of weeks after appearing in print. If such a link does not work it could be because there was a holiday on the day it the puzzle appeared in print.

4) CRUCIVERB.COM points to printable puzzles. If you can't print it, we won't point to it. Why? Because despite the fact that I have no control over these puzzles and how they're presented I still get questions on a very regular basis about how a puzzle can be printed, why a puzzle can't be printed if it can't, etc. I just don't have the time to deal with that!

5) CRUCIVERB.COM won't point to each and every printable puzzle on the web. I reserve the right to point to only those that I feel are appropriate for this readership, which is comprised primarily of crossword professionals and expert solvers. Both Will Johnston and Ray Hamel have crossword web sites with more links than you will find here. They are listed in the "Other Sites" section of this website.

6) If it appears that any of the "Today's Puzzles" links are out-of-date and will no longer work in the future, let me know!
