Suggested Title: Crisscrossed Crosswords

Good Ones:
Artist’s pad   LOFT
It covers all the bases   TARP [baseball tarpaulin]
It has banks in Germany and Poland   ODER
Bavarian carp    ACH [not the fish but the bellyache]
Theme: Two pairs of two-word phrases that must be read crisscrossed, e.g.,
Dieter’s snack?   THREECHIPS  [three cheers]
Crop production toast?   CORNCHEERS  [corn chips]

By the Way:
Ability to detect certain orientation   GAYDAR [who knew the orientation was sexual and that there is such a term, which I think is most clever]
Stray chasers   SCATS [not a noun but a verb: we say scat to shoo away unwanted animals]

Who knew?:
ECTO was the name of a car in a silly twenty-year-old flick.

RATING:   ;D ;D Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun

But why is "TRADE SHOWS" hint to the switches in the 10 letter answers?  I get the "trading of the letters", but "shows"???  Or is it simply that the "trade" "shows"(up)?

The words being traded are the names of TV shows... Cheers, Coach, House, etc.
