THEME: definitions of words sounding the same as /rite/
GOOD ONES: Indication of freshness? SLAP
Phone in a play, e.g. PROP [not write a poor drama]
Rover's turf MARS [I thought dog, of course]
Worker at home UMP [I thought Mom]
BTW: Sleep on it COT and SHEET [neither noun can be defined by the verbal phrase "sleep on it" which is an imperative --- the laws of syntax forbid it --- the clue must be changed to a declarative as in the mundane "One can sleep on it"]

RATING:
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
