Theme answer lengths

Hi everyone,

I have four 8 letter theme answers I'd like to include in a 21 x 21 puzzle. There are 11 theme answers for a total of 109 theme answer squares.

Can fill answers be the same length as the shortest theme or must they be one letter less? Put simply, if I have 8 letter theme answers, must the longest fill answers be 7 letters or less, or can they be 8 as well?

You’re fine using 8-letter fills even though your theme entries are 8 letters. There’s no rule that says fills have to be one letter shorter—some people do that as a stylistic way to help the theme pop, but it’s not a requirement.
