Duplicate entries?
« on: July 13, 2023, 08:08:55 AM »
I'd like to send a 21 X 21 to NYT but realized I've got "case" and "suitcase" in the same grid. Is this considered a "duplicate"?  "Suitcase" is part of a theme entry whereas "case" is part of the filler.

CASE and SUITCASE definitely would be considered a dupe in crossword etiquette. I know some editors are not bothered by that, but I don't think Will Shortz is one of them. Might as well establish the habit of not submitting grids with dupes.

Thanx, Mark. I'll redo that section.

In the context of crosswords, CASE and SUITCASE would most certainly be regarded a dupe. Some editors, I'm sure, wouldn't mind, but I don't think Will Shortz would be one of them.geometry dash
It's probably a good idea to get out of the habit of submitting duplicate grids.
