I'm curious: when I recreate the .puz file from this and open it in Across Lite (on a Macbook), the timer does not start, while it starts as soon as you open the puzzle directly from the site.  Peter Gordon once told me it was something about the file that makes the timer start when you open the puzzle, but didn't tell me what it is.  Does someone here know?  What can I do with these hand-entered files to make them start the time?

Thanks,
David

There is no option within the PUZ file to do this.  There's an option under "Timing Options" (which I would show you if the attachment system on this board worked) that enables whether the time starts immediately upon loading the puzzle or not.  There is likely a similar option in the Mac version.

Edit: Okay I did some testing, and it doesn't seem that Across Lite honors that option when it comes to Across Lite TXT files, i.e. "timer always does not start immediately upon load".  I'm guessing it's simply because there's no time storage attribute on these TXT files like there is on a PUZ file.
