Thanks, Glenn!

Alas, I don't remember how to get this to work correctly.  I'm using a Mac and made a file using TextEdit, which saves as RTF.  I made sure that there was a <return> at the end of the last line, and I changed the .rtf suffix to .puz, but AcrossLite still thinks it's a corrupted file.  Can anyone remind me what I have to do to get it to work?

Thanks!
David

I'm not sure how it works on a Mac.  But basically on the PC Side:
1) Copy the script contents of post to a text editor (Notepad on Windows).
2) Save as regular ASCII Text file (*.TXT).  Like with the one I'm likely going to be posting in a couple of hours you can use LAT200814.TXT.
3) Load the regular TXT file up in Across Lite.  If everything was copied right and saved in the right format it'll work.  You can use Across Lite from there if you want to save a PUZ version like what you would normally download off of this site.

Thanks!

The two keys were
1) Save as .txt, not .puz.
2) Use something like Emacs to save without all the extra formatting characters.

When I try this puzzle from yesterday, Friday Aug 14, it says there are extra lines at the end of the file.  I got the last four to work, but can't get this one to go.  Is there something different with it?

I copied it back out and got it to work for myself.  Maybe try copying it again and double-check that you got all the relevant lines and no more and no less?

Badir, the puzzle source Glen9999 posted for Aug. 14 worked fine for me too. An extra line with just a single blank character in it will cause AcrossLite to return the error message you are getting. So you may have an almost invisible extra line you'll need to remove before opening the file.

Thanks!  Yep, that was it: an extra blank line.  I thought I had removed the extra blank line, but I made a new copy and it worked.  When I diffed the two files, the old one had the blank.

I hope I won't be having any more technical issues here!
