Paula, the Jonesin puzzle should open fine on your iPad with the AcrossLite app available in Apple's App Store. You should be able to click on the link and then on "Open with AcrossLite" in the next window. (I'm a pencil and paper solver myself, but I tested this approach just now and it works fine.) If you have the app installed and it isn't working correctly, you might want to try uninstalling it, rebooting the iPad, and reinstalling the latest/greatest version. Hope this helps!
