THEME:   last three letters of a phrase can precede LAND to create the name of a nation

GOOD ONES:
Country {& theme}   LAND [and it's the last entry of the grid]
Ben or Sam   UNCLE [odd bedfellows]

BTW:
ASIT, IKID, and DOTO are 4-letter entries comprised of two words and not often seen.  Too bad INIT wasn't clued to be read as two words: "You're ___ now!"

Yippies and the SDS in the same puzzle: ah, the bad old days!

RATING:    ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun

The Roman numerals DCM appear in today's crossword. Please, puzzle makers, quit using Roman numerals! We're in the 21st century!

One of the clues today is "Most like it hot." The answer is TUB. I can't speak for anyone else...but I don't want the tub to be hot. I want the water in the tub to be hot!
