THEME:   communication aids

GOOD ONES:
Theme entries are in chronological order from CLAY-TABLET to FLASH-DRIVE
A bullet often precedes one   ITEM [which goes with 48-Down's AGENDA]

BTW:
Some weak cluing [which I attribute without evidence to the editor]
Kid's proud retort   I-AM-SO [insistence is not pride]
Dual pronoun   HE/SHE [not in my grammar --- an inane construction designed to help eliminate sexism but in fact flags it]
Tickle pink   PLEASE [tortured: to please is not to elate but to satisfy]
Saves, as a coupon   CLIPS [Clipping is cutting not saving.  The clue would better read "Removes, as a coupon" because clipping is a form of removing.  AT 34-Across, the clue is correct: "Open, as classified records" because to unseal is in a way to open.]

OST is not used in English.

Simpson judge   ITO [if it were "Simpson's judge" it might suggest the silly TV show, which in a way the Simpson trial was]

RATING: ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
