it seems they did.  The CNN crossword link I have pulls up an applet for LA Times Puzzles.

It doesn’t look like CNN fully discontinued puzzles, but many of their crossword links now redirect to Los Angeles Times games, which suggests they’re using a syndicated provider instead of hosting their own. You might want to check if CNN moved all puzzles into a partner platform or separate games section.
