And how many school teachers got kids to learn the order of those notes by using the phrase "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge" or "Every Good Boy Deserves Favor"? These are the same teachers who taught us the colors of the rainbow by using the name "Roy Biv." We'll never forget red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, violet.

Today's puzzle is the fourth in the past week to have 40 black squares. The limit of 36 has obviously been raised...but why? The clue for HIVE was a cute one: "Bee flat?" But the puzzle makers should have reworked the answers so they didn't have to use ONEB, clued with "Premium plane seat, usually." It's always better to rework a section of the grid than to wind up being forced to find a clue for something that isn't really a word.

His name was Roy G. Biv and he was the most colorful guy on the block.  Oddly, when he was green with envy he'd get red in the face.  He married the girl across the street, Violet.   :-[
