In Crossfire, under 'File', Select 'Export As', there are multiple export types including PUZ. I read someone else saying they liked exporting to PUZ and then opening the puzzle in Acrosslite to print out for submission.

Really? I want to comfirm!!

Software / Technical / Re: how do you publish a puzzle to a personal blog?
« Last post by birchthieves on October 28, 2025, 03:20:28 AM »
I understand that the full version of Crossword Compiler allows you to upload puzzles to the web, so that people can view and solve them online.  What I want to know, however, is if it's possible to take the published puzzle and put it into a personal blog.  I don't mean just the puzzle, but the Java applet that allows people to solve it online.

For example, is there a way to put the Java applet for one of my crosswords into MySpace, or Facebook?  I imagine one would need the HTML coding for that to work. Geometry Dash Full Version

Can a tech-savvy cruciverbalist help me?

Thanks.

Yes, you can embed the Crossword Compiler web puzzle on your personal blog using the HTML code it generates when you publish a puzzle. However, the old Java applet method no longer works on most browsers for security reasons. Instead, export your puzzle using the “Interactive HTML5” option, then upload those files to your web host and embed the generated iframe or script code into your blog post.

I have searched through the forum and did not see this topic. Please let me know if this is redundant.

I was curious how the xword info Analyze puzzle feature would work, so I put random blocks in Crossfire, clicked quick filled, and uploaded it.

It scored very highly. Perfectly in line with all the metrics. My melon sandbox question is how do I know when I have an actually good puzzle? The puzzle I made in minutes scored as well as some of the best puzzles I have seen this year.

The analyzer only measures technical aspects like word balance, symmetry, and fill smoothness—it can’t judge creativity, theme quality, clue originality, or solving fun. A puzzle with random fill can score high mechanically but still be bad editorially. True quality comes from theme strength, fresh entries, and engaging clues, not just a good metric score.
