Title: Is "pissant" to vulgar to be in a puzzle?
Post by: Alex Fay on May 19, 2010, 06:07:09 PM
It would really help me out of a corner, but I don't know if it's too vulgar to be accepted.  Any thoughts?

I think that it might depend on the market.  There's nothing vulgar about the word itself, but the perception of the word would probably rule it out for mass markets.  My guess is that the New York Times would accept it; Universal Crossword would not.

I think it's perfectly oK. It has nothing to do with urine, just like "barfly" (which has appeared in puzzles) has nothing to do with throwing up. But that's just my opinion.
