Title: XENOPHOBIA
Post by: magus on May 09, 2010, 10:20:12 AM
CAVIL-eering

I suppose quibbling is part of the Xword game though nitpicking can be tiring.  But I like Xwords, and so I take time to comment on them daily.  If you are reading this, you may be one of the few who takes the time to read what I say about them, and what follows is an explanation of one of my prejudices which inform my posts.

I somewhat agree with your thesis in Xeonophobia however, being a native born Californian I find Spanish or Spanglish not that objectionable in Xwords. I do not speak the language but by osmosis most Californians know quite a few Spanish words. I'm not sure, but I would guess at least 20 percent of California cities are Spanish named, e.g., Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Palo Alto to name a few. Sooooo, a few Spanish words are not that objectionable in Crosswords, at least here on the Left Coast.
