Title: Crossing entries OK?
Post by: cranberry44 on April 09, 2021, 09:13:25 AM
In a 15 X 15, do you think it's OK to cross "Illgo" ("I'll go") with "Ishop" (for the start of "I shop, therefore I am")? The entries cross at the "I"

Repeating the word I in the grid is seen fairly often. If you can't find anything better, I'd go with it. Worst case you'll get a request for revision.

Thanks, Mark. I've seen "I" in more than one place in a 15 X 15, but wasn't sure if the "I's" crossed. I may go with this.

I just realized that I can't use this entry because "i" is in the clue. I reworked one more time but
may have a problem. I have "Pemba" and "murre" crossing at the "m." Is this too difficult
a cross? This is a 15 X 15 no-theme puzzle, which, if I remember correctly, sometimes has more difficult
crosses. This is the only "odd cross" in the puzzle.

"murre," I noticed, is only used in a pre-Shortz puzzle; so I guess I won't be able to use this. Sorry to take up your time
with the above entry.

It's probably worth asking yourself, how would you feel if you were solving a puzzle with MURRE and PEMBA in it? You'd probably feel they were both pretty obscure, no? Even if they didn't cross each other.

You're right! Thanks!
