Title: Word ladder symmetry
Post by: rdarcy on January 09, 2019, 10:20:12 PM
In a 15x15 grid, a four-letter word ladder doesn't quite fit.

Do you think there would be a strong objection to tossing in a non-symmetrical black square to shorten a middle 5-letter slot to 4?

Is violating symmetry ever okay at just one square?

The only deviations from the symmetry rule that I can recall were in situations where the asymmetry was theme-related. That is, the black squares formed some design that was part of the theme.

Yes, that's what I feared. Thanks, Mark.
