THEME:   none

GOOD ONES:
Square shooter?   BOX CAMERA [in one dimension]

BTW:
1954 Detroit…unveiling   TBIRD [one would have thought the modifier "familiarly" would be required --- perhaps it was felt that since TBIRD is used so often no modifier was necessary]

RATING:    ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun

Remember the Beach Boys' 1963 hit Fun Fun Fun? "She'll have fun, fun, fun, till her daddy takes her T-Bird away." One of the clues in today's crossword was "Charged." I initially entered RANAT, which has always been the answer for that clue. However, in today's puzzle the correct answer was HADAT. Merriam-Webster defines "have at" as "to go at or deal with." Is that the same as "charge"?

A nice puzzle today: two 9-letter answers, eight 10-letter answers and two 11-letter answers and very few of the usual three- and four-letter words that are used much too often.

Have at means to move toward aggressively, so the answer is yes.

As for the quality of this puzzle, it appears you assign greater weight than I do for difficulty of construction.  This one had no theme and few clever or evocative entries.  It offered some challenge, however.
