Title: Sun., 6/16 Grabowski & Venzke
Post by: magus on June 16, 2013, 09:23:51 AM
THEME:   phrases beginning with FO and ending in G

GOOD ONES:
TITLE:   "In a Fog" [without it I probably would have missed the theme]
It could be a plot   ACRE
Half of 10?   ZERO
Provide juice for   PLUG-IN
Out on a limb   TREED
It gets into a lather   RAZOR
Class assignment   SEAT
Sign of summer   LEO [oldie but goodie]
Dash at the market?   MRS [condiment company]

BTW:
Barely sufficient   SCANT [The "problem" with Webster's is that it lists first the oldest form of the word.  Today scant is used without the notion of sufficiency but merely for a small quantity.]

Out yonder   AFAR [Where I live yonder is still quite often used!]

Stylish   MOD [MOD is no longer stylish --- might have been the point]

Tack room gear   HARNESS [Too bad the reference wasn't "He gives his ___ bells a shake," a national treasure.  But we did get TOLSTOY, and there was a good mix of subject matter in this enjoyable puzzle.]

RATING:    ;D ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun

Some of the phrases began with f and ended in og.
I took the "out" in out yonder to be part of the phrase meaning in the distance, rather than a passe form of yonder.

Don't you think "out yonder" is passe?  ???
