Title: Longer non-theme Across entries
Post by: flight on August 12, 2020, 04:37:49 PM
Is there a generally accepted letter length that non-theme Across entries should not exceed, in relation to the length of the Across theme entries?

For example, if you've got three 11-letter Across themers, is it cool to use one or more 10-letter non-theme across entries?

Thanks!

You will occasionally see non theme across entries that are only one or two letters shorter than theme entries, and that is permissible. I try to avoid that when possible, because a) it tends to make the fill more difficult, and b) it may confuse solvers who might think the entries are supposed to be part of the theme.

As always, thanks, Mark.
