General Discussion / Re: How many words should be in a word list?

Thanks. By the way, I am not creating a mainstream crossword, it's for the medical community (ems, doctors, nurses, paramedics, etc.) that's why my list is unique. geometry dash world
They simply contain a lot of unfamiliar technical or specialist terminology and phrases. They are jam-packed with unfamiliar abbreviations. They use a lot of language that is offensive, improper, or out of date. Bigger is not always better when it comes to word lists.

Software / Technical / own website allowing puzzles to be filled-in online

Is there puzzle-making software where you can make a puzzle AND (1) post it to your own website and (2) people can fill in the puzzle online.

Can anyone recommend puzzle-friendly web hosting services?

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but how would I access Clue Search as mentioned on this page?

When I click "Puzzle Database" I see a nav bar with Answer Search, Word Lists, Puzzle Info, Find Grids, etc., but no Clue Search.

General Discussion / Re: NYT .puz download not working?
« Last post by admin on October 06, 2023, 07:44:57 AM »
Hello,

The cruciverb site provides links to the NYT site. When you click on such a link it comes up in their new format. However, you can use the Crossword Scraper extension to save these puzzles in .puz (Across Lite) format. I use the extension to save NYT and New Yorker puzzles every day.

See the second article on the cruciverb.com homepage to find out more about Crossword Scraper.

General Discussion / Full name in the clue for someone's last name
« Last post by zinaphile on October 05, 2023, 09:59:59 PM »
I want to clue someone (A) by referencing someone they're associated with (B). To eliminate ambiguity I want to include B's first and last name, whereas the entry itself is just A's last name. Is this fair, or by including both of B's names am I committing to the solver that the entry will be both first and last names?

Considering that the New York Times (hatedfully) abandoned the.puz NYT file format, I've been curious how cruciverb has kept it available for so long. If I had to guess, I'd say the NYT used a script to build the URL, and even though it had removed the links from its public-facing sites, it was still producing the format on its server. If I'm incorrect, and I hope I am, then mini crossword

3 months. five nights at freddy's 4

Very curious to hear from others whether they've received rejections lacking any feedback.

3 months is quite a long time. Is there any way to make it faster?

In the context of crosswords, CASE and SUITCASE would most certainly be regarded a dupe. Some editors, I'm sure, wouldn't mind, but I don't think Will Shortz would be one of them.geometry dash
It's probably a good idea to get out of the habit of submitting duplicate grids.
