Title: Sun., 10/27 Ed Sessa
Post by: magus on October 27, 2013, 09:40:07 AM
THEME:   the sound of a word in a phrase is changed by adding a Z yielding a different meaning

GOOD ONES:
Really big hangover?   A DAZE LIKE NO OTHER
Couch potato's preparations?    LAZE AWAY PLAN
Caddies of old   EL DORADOS [I thought golf]
Breads for Reubens   RUBLE [I thought ryes]
9 to 5, eg.   RATIO [I thought jobs]
Degree in math   NTH
Commercial developers   AD MEN [Mad Men should be coming back in a couple of months]
Old Pisa dough   LIRE [the doughs are stale by now]
Slaughter in the field   ENOS [he was an excellent baseball player]
Better part of a loaf?   HALF [How can a half be better?   Because "half a loaf is better than none."]

BTW:
I CALL EM AS I SEIZE EM is a clever theme entry but only English teachers use AS conjunctively --- everyone else uses LIKE.  (The rest of the expression is "An if I don't see em, I make em up.")

RATING:    ;D ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
