Title: FALLFOR INFOR duplicate?
Post by: kwanjul on May 01, 2020, 11:59:17 AM
Hi folks. Would the entries FALL FOR and IN FOR be considered duplicates because they both contain the word "for"? Or is "for" considered a rather small word that it's okay to duplicate?

Thanks

In my opinion, FOR is one of those "little" words that can be repeated in a grid - as it's not capitalized in titles. However, I think neither of these entries is greatt so I would try to get rid of one if at all possible. Of the two I think IN FOR is the weaker, though it is a standard dictionary phrase. It doesn't clue very well and isn't seen often in crosswords.

I personally would try to avoid repeating "for," even though it's a rather small word. I think it detracts from the puzzle to repeat like that. I also agree with Mark that it's worth trying to rework the grid to eliminate at least IN FOR.
