Title: Slow response time by NYT?
Post by: cranberry44 on October 30, 2020, 10:35:25 AM
I sent to NYT 2 15 X 15's on July 20, 2020, and still have no response. Has anyone else been experiencing delays?
Also, what is the best way to contact NYT in re: the status of my puzzles?

The published (on this site) response time for NYT is up to four months, so you're a few weeks away from that. Will Shortz' email address is wshortz@aol.com.

Thanx for the info, Mark. Do you know if it's OK to send them another one before I get a response re: those sent previously?

It took me 3.5 months to hear back on the most recent puzzle I sent. I think Will had some turnover among his team so that could explain a slower than usual response time. I wouldn't follow up with Will until you've exceeded four months of wait time.

It's definitely okay to send another puzzle before you've heard back on a prior submission.

I believe they ask that you have no more than "three-ish" puzzles outstanding with them at a time.

(The think that's not OK, obviously, would be to send the same puzzle to more than one venue at the same time.)

Thank you all for responding. I'll follow the advice.
