BTW:
One of the best of the year for its theme, clever fill, and challenge.

I agree with the "three grins" rating. This puzzle had a really good theme!
For some reason my mind went to the comics page first for both 43A ("B.C. law group" = RCMP) and 48A ("Starr-struck one?" = DRUM). And I don't even read either of those comic strips (B.C. or the *very old* Brenda Starr) so who knows why. I do think I saw a movie version of Brenda Starr many years ago (not very good).
