LENA
      It met Lena Horne at a gathering in Princeton.  We spoke for a short while, and while I had not been a fan, I was smitten.  She had a spark of life that radiated palpably, a natural fineness of character and bearing, and laughed with a depth that was both girlish and sensual.  She was probably 65 then and older than my mother.
