I probably sound a bit xenophonbic, but I'm really not.  I love different languages and cultures, and I believe that English is stronger for having adopted so many words and phrases from other languages.  I am born of immigrant parents and was fortunate enough to live in a subsidized city housing project which exposed me to diverse ethnicity.

I just think that most foreign words and idioms are inappropriate in English Xwords.  Today we have BASTA; yesterday we had SCHLEP[P] (which somehow found its way into Webster's Third).  Nor can I think of a good reason why basta or schlep should be used in speech or writing as neither word offers anything more than our words enough or carry, respctively.

Maybe I'm just a kvetch.
