magus:
Possible Title: Southern Summer Sipper

Good ones:
You can count on them   ABACI
They’re rolled in Spain   ARS [I thought a cigar]
Theme: phrases containing the makings of a mint julep
Drink suggested by {theme}   JULEP

By the Way:
I enjoyed the mix of classic and pop culture and general diversity of subject matter.

Wasn’t this particularly tough --- some tricky cluing:
{Julep} mixer   WATER [don’t think of it as a mixer]
Cut taker   AGENT
Hook shape   CEE [I know s-hooks and c-springs.  Is there a c-hook?  Probably.]
All out   UTTER
Out   ALIBI

Who knew?:
ESSE is the first word of NC’s motto --- and I live in NC.

Braff Zach was in Scrubs or that Braff Zach existed.

Kwanza principle was UNITY.  I thought the Kwanza principle was to reject a white man’s holiday, which seems quite the opposite.

Some Nits to Pick:
Rebellious dispositions   ATTITUDES  [but the opposite is true: obedient dispositions are attitudes; all dispositions are attitudes  --- this clue is designed only to mislead, which would be all right if it were clever]

Circle   EVADE [it is possible to evade by circling, but so is it by taking any action --- another clue that misleads and lacks imagination]

Obvious flirt   OGLER [not obvious to me; he could just be a creep]

“Ciencias”

RATING:   ;D ;D Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
