LAT Fri. 3/16 Marti Duguay-Carpenter

Possible Title: Nothin' Could be Finah...

Good Ones:
Break fluid?   JOE [from coffee break, not brake]
Inventive cubist?   RUBIK
Theme: regional pronunciations yielding unexpected definitions
Hail   DANTESINFERNO
Tin   SAWBUCK
Poe   FLATBROKE
Tar   GROWWEARY (tending toward Western)
What you need to get the {theme}   SOUTHERNDRAWL

Some Nits to Pick:
Hit that sends the game into extra innings, e.g.  EVENER [an awfully long clue given that it’s rather weak.  Yes, in the very broadest sense such a hit evens the game and so is an evener, but the term is simply never used in baseball, and it’s not particularly clever.  So why not clue it as “Plane” and have done with it?]

RATING:   ;D ;D ;D Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun

Some funny stuff there :) I was really scratching my head over the theme entries, it took some thought to figure them out!

I agree with you on EVENER, "Plane" would have been much better.
