Abbr. "pgs." might mean pigs

But as a footnote abbr. properly it is "pps."  (L.A. Times puzzle, 10-03-08, 19 across).  Rob Schultz

Just pp. I've never seen pps. Doubling the letter pluralizes it. (In  Spanish, the US is E.E. U.U.).
