VERY GOOD ONES!

"Minnesota twin?"    STPAUL
"Six-pack makeup"    ABS [6 abdominal muscles --- don't know how I knew]
"Dig deeply"    ADORE
"Drop in the ocean"    EBBTIDE
"Spot for a screwdriver"    BAR
"Title character not in the cast"   GODOT

BOMBS, FLOPS, TURKEYS, BUSTS, and DUDS make for a fun theme on failure.  It would have been easy, however, to drop us a hint about the theme.  At 39 Across the clue "Triumph" for PREVAIL might have been "Triumph, and the theme's opposite" or "Triumph, and a clue to the theme."    :)
