Not only is the aural theme clever fun, but getting eight long theme answers in this 15x15 grid is impressive.  I chuckled at YATITTLE-ate, BRUCEJENNER-ate, and TOMFOLEY-ate.  I wonder what Dan ate. :)
FLYSPECKED (covered with black dots) is new to me.  By whom or under what conditions might it be used?  ???
