Sod that?!?

(1/1)

Hello Cruciverb Folks-

I'd be grateful for any thoughts re: appropriateness of "SOD THAT" as an xword answer. Clue would be something like "Brit's slangy refusal".

I have a few clumsier but still potentially acceptable backup options...

SON THAT (Clue: "O wonderful ___ can so astonish a mother!" - Hamlet) or
SOFT HAT (Clue: Beret, for example)

Any and all thoughts are welcome & appreciated...!

Hi,

Being originally from the UK, I can tell you that "SOD THAT", is pretty much swearing. The word SOD, in this context is well understood (in the UK) to be short for SODOMITE (or variations thereof). So substitute "b**ger" or the F-word and you'll get the context in which this expression is usually used.

Ha! Thanks for your input... clearly I'd better go w/one of the alternates...  :o

How about SOS THAT. As in

" ___ your excuse?"
" ___ why you came home at two in the morning"
" ___ what you call a paycheck?"
etc.

OK, maybe not ...
