File formats for crossword puzzles

Hi, all.  I'm wondering there's a consensus out there on if the .puz format has evolved or is evolving to be the default format for crossword puzzles.  I'm looking to market my puzzles via electronic submission. Is .puz the format most editors want?  I want to be sure I can save my puzzles in all popular file formats.  I run a Mac with Parallels. I've demoed both Crossfire and Crossword Compiler and I like Crossfire better.   Thanks.  The forum's a great resource.
