== April 5 Boston Crossword Puzzle Tournament at Harvard, with Will Shortz ==
The first-ever Boston Crossword Puzzle Tournament is happening Sunday,
April 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Harvard University (sign-in starts at
12 noon). Our celebrity guest is Will Shortz, puzzle editor for the New
York Times, puzzlemaster on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday, and star of
the feature film WORDPLAY.
The event is open to the general public. Attendees will complete
unpublished upcoming puzzles from the New York Times, and enjoy a
special presentation by Will Shortz, who will lead the audience in word
games and quizzes while the puzzles are scored.
General admission is free at the door for anyone who just wants to do
the puzzles for fun, but advance tickets (free with a current Harvard
ID, $10 otherwise) are required for those who want to have their puzzles
scored and compete in the tournament for prizes.
The event is jointly sponsored by the Harvard College Crossword Society
(a student organization) and Cruciverbalists of Boston, a local social
group of over 80 hard-core crossword puzzle fans.
