Repetition of function words in novel titles

Total newbie question.  In a puzzle where the theme answers are, say, multiple novel titles, is there enough wiggle room in the no-word-repetition rule for the inevitably duplicated words such as TO, THE, OF, and A?  Or is there a trick/convention that gets around the problem?
