Good Ones:
Club for a chip   IRON [I thought playing cards: ante]
Back biter?   MOLAR
Mysterious character   RUNE [oldie but goodie]
Court cover-up   ROBE [I thought “tarp”]
Works on a muffler   KNITS [I thought cars]
Formerly, formerly   ERST [another oldie but goodie]
The way it goes   FATE
Parade concern   RAIN [as in “don’t rain on my parade”?]
Theme: adding a letter in front of a word in a phrase yields a different meaning
Packrat’s moving need?   LONG-U-HAUL
Stripper’s scrapbook item?   FIRST-G-STRING
Topnotch Carnival vessel?   A-ONELINER

Some Nits to Pick:
Impressionists   APERS [I know it’s in all the puzzles, but that’s only where we see it.]

UOMO [acceptable if this puzzle were for the Milanese]

Uncompromising words   IINSIST [yes, but this expression connotes a polite suggestion that the speaker wants his way --- usually to the advantage of the listener]

Stretched to the max   TAUT [it really means tightly strung, not maximally so]

RATING:   ;D ;D ;D Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
