As usual, a tough, but fun, puzzle.
But...I am really puzzled by 12 Down.
Clue: Major no-nos?
Answer: CARTS
Can anyone elucidate?

I kinda think its a crappy clue. In golf, some tournaments are Majors. Golf carts aren't allowed. But they're not allowed on the PGA at all in any event. So Patrick either equivocated PGA = Major leagues (not realizing in golf that Majors are simply the most prestigious events and not a reference to the 'big leagues') or .... perhaps they're not alllowed in baseball.

Ah, a golf reference. No wonder I was "puzzled".
But thanks, I've been wondering about this one for a long time.
