Rebus clues

I am wrapping up my first puzzle, which is a rebus.  Does the revealer clue need to hint that the puzzle is a rebus (ie “.... or a hint to x squares in this puzzle)” or can it be a little more open ended?  Relatedly, are there rebus revealer clue conventions or other rebus advice I should keep in mind?  (Everything is symmetrical, including the placement of the rebus words). Thanks in advance

I don't think it needs to be that specific, but I wouldn't worry about that, as the editor can easily change the clue.
