WSJ Puzzle(s)
« on: September 25, 2015, 06:22:37 PM »
It seems to have disappeared the last few days, just when I was going to ask if Cruciverb would be providing access to their new daily puzzles.

So both questions.

Thanks.

The Wall Street Journal now publishes 15X15 puzzles Monday through Friday. The 21X21 puzzle that used to be published on Friday is now Published on Saturday. You can access that puzzle that puzzle by clicking on the "Will's Calendar" link on the homepage. It would be nice if we could get the Friday link changed to Saturday and daily links added.  :)

The Wall Street Journal was founded in 1889. Until 1976, the publication illustrated stories with line drawings only. The first photograph to appear in the WSJ was of Chinese Communist Chairman Mao Zedong following his death in 1976. Now in 2015 the WSJ is finally running crossword puzzles. At this rate, a comics page should debut in 2088. :)

The daily crosswords and acrostics can be downlaoded in PDF format at http://blogs.wsj.com/puzzle/

They have published a weekly puzzle on Fridays since the 1990's. They just added the daily puzzle on 9/15/15. The puzzles always have a named theme. .

Thank you for the correction. I discovered---thank you, World Wide Web!---that the Wall Street Journal crosswords have been published every Friday since 1998. They have also been reprinted in a series of books, each containing 50 puzzles, and an Omnibus book which contains 250 puzzles.

All very interesting but none speak to the question: will cruciverb.com ever have PUZ links to the WSJ daily puzzles.

I know they're available as PDFs from the WSJ's own web page, but PUZ files are more useful.
