It's too bad that Steinberg could not have also included a reference to the 1965 Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass album Whipped Cream & Other Delights. Oh well.
One of the most popular online games is Words With Friends. It's identical to Scrabble, except that it's played on a computer and not on a gameboard. ADE and AROAR appear occasionally in crossword puzzles but if I try to use either of those words in a Words With Friends game, I get this message: "Not a valid word." There ya go!
magus:
So the game makers of Words With Friends failed to include those valid words. When I read Romantic poetry I came across aroar, and there are many an ade available in stores --- even though my spell checker doesn't like either term.
