THEME:   Wizard of Oz theme from first words of 5 phrases --- in order

GOOD ONES:
Character who speaks {theme}   DOROTHY GALE
Clothing line   HEM
Looks like a wolf   LEERS [last century, a wolf was a rapscallion --- now he's a creep.]
Historic beginning?   PRE
Strands in a cell?   DNA [I thought prison]
It smells   NOSE
Like some cows   SACRED [I thought plain old, smelly farm animals]
Draft order   ALE [not, "Welcome…"]

BTW:
Enero to enero   ANO  [Clearly Gareth and/or the editor ignores this space, but neither should.
   1. Enero is never used in English.
   2. For the sake of consistency, if for nothing else, the clue should be "Enero a enero."
   3. AN O can be clued "Request for Sajak" or "Ohio team's cheer starting with 'Gimme'"

RATING: ;D ;D ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
