GOOD ONES:     
Raises ones spirits?   TOASTS   
Reasons for seeing double?   BIFOCALS [without them you would not see the word double]   
Whistler, at times?   KETTLE   
Didn't recover from a trip?   FELL   
Routine fare?   ONE LINERS [in comedy routines]   
Crops of the pick?   ORES [pick axe]   
   
BTW:   
TES is not used in our language.
