THEME:   sound of first word of a phrase and the last word are common phrases but interrupted by ERY [GROCERY NEGLECT & CURSORY WORD]

GOOD ONES:
Group of sweet-talking experts?   FLATTERY PANEL
Foes with bows?   ARCHERY ENEMIES
Confrontation-ending device   LASER [I guess so!]
18 for Al, e.g.   ATNO [atomic number]
Deer or elk, sometimes   PLURAL

BTW:
"Chantilly Lace" and "Blue Velvet"?   FINERY TUNES [the idea is that chantilly and velvet are finery, but the the tune "Chantilly Lace" is in no way fine --- it's a great rocker, though]

Eure-et-Loir is not used in our language.

Hard to accept a high school diploma is a degree, but…  (I'd prefer "End of H.S.")

Having good night vision   CAT EYED [makes sense, but I'm not buying it as a common metaphor]

RATING:    ;D
Three grins = Loved it; Two grins = Enjoyed it; One grin = A bit bland for my taste; One teardrop = Not much fun
