Ball club   BAT [not two words]   
One on a one?   UNUM   
   
BTW:   
Catches on   LEARNS [yes, but the idiom suggests surmising, which, while a form of learning, could never be used simply to mean learning]   
   
DONT-GIVE-ME-NO-LIP gave me a case of CHATTERING-TEETH and put me in cardiac arrest.  Clearly this is the end of Western Civilization.
