I started my own crossword company 25 years ago. I have had a modest amount of success, earning about $35,000 a year (gross) from my business steadily for the last several years. I sell to about 50 newspapers directly and to three large syndicates that distribute my puzzles. This is entirely a home-based business with exactly one employee--me! I spend approximately 30 hours a week at it. I am possibly going to sell my business later this year, although my plans are not at all firm about this. Regarding the $35,000 per year, a good portion of this ($13,000) comes from one company with whom I have a contract, and I haven't yet looked into whether or not I could transfer that contract to a new owner. Possibly or possibly not. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone out there might be interested in purchasing the business. The price would be very reasonable. Jackie (
