Cryptics crosswords dialects (and a site)

I am struck by how many "dialects" or "flavors" exist within cryptics themselves depending on the source or region. Not necessarily because of the content matter but the style itself.

Are there any cryptics constructors here that can comment on this? How they picked a style, do they have to worry about which style their audience likes, are there standard styles, etc.
